Exciting News!
The 43rd District Democrats will vote on a resolution in support of municipal broadband at their upcoming endorsement meeting!
The resolution calls on the Seattle City Council and Mayor Jenny Durkan to expedite the creation of a public internet utility, and asks that funding for a full municipal broadband build-out plan be added to next year's budget.
Read the full text of the resolution here.
Voting is restricted to members, but new members are allowed to vote 10 days after paying dues, so the deadline to become a member in time to vote in the September meeting is Sunday Sept 2nd before 11:59pm.
Membership is available to anyone who lives in the 43rd District who identifies in some manner as a Democrat (i.e. Democratic Socialists, Green Democrats, and Democratic Internet-Activists are all welcome to join). People interested in joining the 43rd District Democrats can do so here.
Already a member? We need three people eager to speak for 1 minute each about the benefits of municipal broadband. If you're interested in speaking, please email devin@upgradeseattle.com to arrange to speak. (Shirts available to any interested volunteers.)
